Virtual event to start rebuilding EU and Chinese tourism on June 22-24, 2020
AVIAREPS is pleased to announce an innovative virtual fair for a selection of companies in the European and Chinese tourism industry. This virtual event with cutting-edge European technology is part of the Partnerships in European Tourism project, launched by the European Commission and funded by the European Union. The project consists of four matchmaking events between European Small and Medium Enterprises and Chinese buyers. The virtual fair is the first Business-to-Business matchmaking event, followed by live events in Berlin, Chengdu and Hangzhou in March, June and October 2021.
Before Covid-19 pandemic, Europe had become increasingly popular with Chinese travellers. More repeat visits, a strong interest in in-depth trips and younger generations of individual travellers, promised a bright tourism future. To rebuild this trend and to re-install the flows of visitors from the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, this virtual fair will be an important symbolic step in the right direction.
Virtual Fair: Rebuilding bridges after Covid-19The virtual fair will take place on 22, 23 and 24 June 2020 and participation is free of charge. Chinese buyers and European sellers can attend presentations, interact with each other via 3D avatars and engage in qualitative one-on-one meetings. The virtual environment features two pavilions with booths that allow 40 European sellers to showcase their trans-European products to the Chinese travel trade.

Eric Philippart, Senior Expert at the European Commission, said:
“The timing of the reopening of the Schengen Zone is yet unknown, but first signs of recovery in Europe start to show. This virtual fair is an important opportunity to be ahead of the curve and to lead by example. By supporting the tourism industry, a sector that has been severely hit by the impact of Covid-19, the European Union will send out a signal of positivity and proactivity.”
