Austria with its 8,4 million inhabitants and a GDP of 284,0 billion Euros (GDP per inhabitant EUR 33.850 enjoyed an economy upswing by 2.0% in 2010, after the most significant drawback in economic growth since World War II which also had hit Austria in 2009.
Travel intensity in Austria lies around 60% (at least one holiday trip p.a.) and the respective travel behavior of the Austrian population shows that about 64% of all trips are taken to international destinations. Due to a stable economic and political environment it is expected that these figures will remain stable or even increase further in the years ahead.
In addition to business trips, beach holidays in Mediterranean countries, cultural tours and short city breaks are among the favorite types of travel for Austrians.
