General Manager
Sonja learned the travel business from scratch starting her career with an apprenticeship at an international travel agency chain. She quickly realized her talent in sales & marketing and changed to one of Austria’s top ten tour operators MERIDIAN and later to AIRTOUR Austria working as a product manager. In 1990 she followed her interest in the aviation industry and started to work for South African Airways. Seven years later she decided to study alongside work and after two years successfully graduated in tourism management at the Vienna University of business administration and economics. Having written her diploma thesis about the concept of peace parks in Southern Africa she finally even got promoted to country & sales manager Austria & Eastern Europe at South African Airways. After 10 successful years in the airline industry she decided to enter new ground in the hospitality sector working as marketing manager at the Austrian hotel chain SCHICK HOTELS. In 2006 her passion for the airline industry convinced her to work again as sales & marketing manager - this time at AVIAREPS Austria. One year later Sonja took over the steering wheel, now heading the Austrian subsidiary as general manager Austria. With nearly 30 years of experience in the travel industry Sonja disposes of a very diverse network of trade and media contacts, she is a well-known market expert, prepared to manage each challenge.
